Two postdoctoral positions are available: 1- Cardiac MRI development (previous experience in cardiac MRI acquisition, analysis, and reconstruction is required); 2- Machine learning application and signal processing for cardiovascular medicine (previous publications in Machine Learning and familiarity with hemodynamics/fluid mechanics is required). Cardiology/Anesthesiology Fellows and Medical Residents:
Multiple projects are available in the area of hemodynamics and heart failure monitoring. Please contact Professor Pahlevan (pahlevan@usc.edu) if you are interested to participate.
PhD program applicants:
There are PhD positions available. All PhD applications must go through the AME admission committee first. If you decide to apply, please mention Professor Pahlevan in your application. Your application will be considerd by Professor Pahlevan if it passes the first stage. Exceptional candidates who have research background (based on peer-reviewed publications) in hemodynamics, Physics-Informed Machine learning, hyperbolic PDE simulations or Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) may contact Professor Pahlevan (pahlevan@usc.edu) directly.
Students with undergraduate or master degree in applied and computational mathematics who are interested in mathematical biology or fluid mechanics are encouraged to apply; however, they must apply for Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering department.
The PhD projects are combination of experimental and computational approaches and may include animal study or clinical trials.
Bachelor/Master projects:
Multiple projects are available. You must have a good background in at least one of the following areas: PIV, optimization, signal processing, Finite Element Analysis, numerical PDE, machine learning, or functional analysis. Student who are proficient in MATALB or Python are encouraged to contact Professor Pahlevan (pahlevan@usc.edu)
Pre-Med students:
Several positions are available in the area of noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring. You will interact with patients in clinical settings. Since your training will take several months, the minimum commitment is one year.
